Pharoahe Monch is Still The Coldest to Ever Do it. Change My Mind.
We publish a lot of opinions on Loud News Net. Almost as if we’re creating a community where it’s ok to have an opinion that’s your own. Weird. However, with no hyperbole or even opinion, Pharoahe Monch is the coldest emcee you ever heard. Or never heard. Change my mind.
Sure, he’s well known in the hip-hop community. He’s been an established artist since Organized Konfusion started putting it down in 1987. But does Pharoahe Monch really get the recognition he deserves?
He has partnered with some of the greatest names in rap. From Common Sense, Q-Tip, Erykah Badu, Black Thought, Marco Polo, Talib Kweli, and countless others.
Lyrically he is a technical assassin with a dynamic and unpredictable flow. A Miles Davis on the mic.

Internal Affairs
The underground Queens rapper celebrates the 20th anniversary of his breakthrough 1999 album Internal Affairs, which spawned the hit single “Simon Says” that is still lighting up parties in New York to this day as the command “Throw your hands in the sky!”.”

PTSD by Pharoahe Monch
In partnership with INgrooves, American hip hop artist Pharoahe Monch released PTSD: Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, his fourth studio album, on April 15, 2014.
This album’s primary theme is the psychological effects of trauma, especially those resulting from living in the dangerous and impoverished conditions-a topic that is not often explicitly discussed in any form of media, despite frequently appearing as a subtext in a lot of rap music.
Palindrome – Th1rt3eN
In 2019, he returned with his new group ‘Th1rt3eN‘ to show the world that he is not only the dopest rapper forward, but also in palindrome form:
Ain’t it evil to live backwards, i’m just asking
Smoke you like a cigar toss it in a can it is so tragic
Same Sh!t, Different Toilet – Pharoahe Monch
Following the George Floyd murder at the hands of Minneapolis Police, Pharoahe Monch teamed up with producer Marco Polo and rapper Styles P to drop the single “Same Sh!t, Different Toilet”. It was released in June 2020 and made the already blistering summer a little hotter.
They’re burning crucifixes on my lawn again (Lawn again)
They wanna hang a n**** like an ornament
It’s tormenting, mourning over yesterday, still yawning
Inside of a tournament I can’t win (Good Morning!)
Shotgun blast passed by my head
“I’m a man, I tell you, I’m a man”, I said (I’m a man, I’m a man)
Push my daughter and my wife in the closet and slid my son up under the bed
Filled the Smith & Wesson with lead
Pharoahe Monch – same sh!t different toilet
The Complex – Reks featuring Pharoahe Monch
More recently, Pharoahe Monch appeared on the Reks single The Complex produced by Statik Selektah. They address the conflicts of PTSD and returning to a country embedded with systemic racism, even after serving in the military and defending the United States. The Complex is a dense serving of sub-conscious hip hop.
