How to Make a Firecracker Edible: The Quick & Dirty Hero of Homemade Weed Edibles
Even as they increase in popularity and sophistication of production, edibles remain a dark and mysterious force to many.
Before the days of pre-packaged and consistently dosed edibles, options were few and far between. Recipes for crockpot cannabutter were passed down through oral tradition, requiring hours of commitment depending on who you asked.
Dark times like these call for heroes. Thankfully, the humble firecracker edible can and did answer the call.
Quick and Easy edibles – Best Firecracker Recipe is here
Made of a few simple ingredients with rudimentary technique and equipment, firecrackers’ weed edibles are not glamorous. They’re the edible version of a quick fix–the duct tape solution. But they’re ready in less than half an hour and will absolutely peel your wig back.
This guide references THC, which is somehow still illegal in a lot of places. However, the process described in this works exactly the same for CBD, which is now legal everywhere in the United States. CBD edibles are still pretty awesome. Check your local laws.

How they work
In dried cannabis, the compound we all know and love exists as THCA. When you light it on fire, it undergoes a rapid transformation to THC (technically Δ-9-THC). This is known as decarboxylation.

In order to turn that no-fun THCA into THC for edible form, you’ll need to apply heat to the flower. During the first step in the process, that’s exactly what you’ll be doing.
There are helpful charts and a whole lot of theory about the best way to do this, but that’s not really what we’re after. We’re making deadlines, not art.
Weed Firecracker Edible Ingredients
Other than your favorite cannabis strain, you’ll only need two other ingredients: a fatty spread and something to put it on.
For easy reference, we’ll be using peanut butter and crackers, but you can use anything with a good amount of fat in it to absorb all those compounds and carry them into your bloodstream.

Hazelnut spread and cookie butter are two really lovely options. The more fat, the better it will absorb.
Equipment to Make Firecracker Edibles
Any oven will do. You’ll just need to maintain a relatively steady temperature for about half an hour in total.
The further away from the heat source, you are the better so that you don’t risk burning the cannabis by accident. For that reason, a standard oven might work a little better than a toaster oven but the difference is probably negligible.
You’ll also need some aluminum foil to wrap your weed firecrackers, but not much. It just needs to completely cover the firecracker.
Precautions
This probably goes without saying but during the decarb process you’ll be causing quite the stink, literally. Take into consideration that you’re likely to fill the entire floor with a powerful aroma that may or may not be welcome by your neighbors.

If you’re worried about your neighbors, take extra precautions. Run your oven fan. Lay down some cover with incense, coffee, or my personal favorite: a pan full of frying onions.
Also–if you are new to edibles consider reducing the amount of cannabis in your firecracker. This recipe is for an average adult male and regular user. Edibles can be very unpredictable. You can always eat more later. Be careful.
If you find yourself dosed beyond comfort, fear not. You are not the first to walk that road and you shall not be the last. Find a nice comfy place to lie down and try to relax.

-
0.5 g of your favorite cannabis (adjust to body weight and experience).
-
2 graham crackers (or saltines, or bread, or really anything that can be baked).
-
1 heaping tablespoon of peanut butter or other fatty spread.
How much AVB to eat?
I find that between 1/4 to 1/2 a teaspoon per serving is a decent amount for me.
Equipment
-
1 piece of aluminum foil
-
Grinder
Steps When Making a Weed Firecracker
- Preheat oven to 250°F.
- Grind cannabis thoroughly. Spread it out on the piece of aluminum foil. Place it in the oven. Set timer for 10 minutes.
- Spread the peanut butter on each cracker, nice and thick.
- Once 10 minutes is up, remove the cannabis from the oven and set the temperature to 285°F.
- Sprinkle the decarbed flower onto the crackers. Smush the crackers together to make a sandwich and rub them around in a circular motion between your fingers to mix the flower thoroughly into the peanut butter. Completely wrap the “sandwich” in foil.
- Once the oven is up to temperature, place the wrapped “sandwich” back into the oven for 15 minutes.
- When the time is up, take your firecracker out of the oven and enjoy. You will get flower particles in your teeth. Find a friend or a mirror to help.

After eating your firecracker, it could take anywhere from 90 minutes to four hours to feel the effects. Remember that the effects of edibles are unpredictable and plan accordingly. Don’t drive anywhere unless you’re staying there. Keep snacks nearby and enjoy.
