The National Mall Memorial Recognizes The 200,000 Victims Of COVID-19
The National Mall hosted a memorial service this past Monday to disperse 20,000 American flags to represent the 200,000 victims of COVID-19. Volunteers from the COVID Memorial Project spread the message that these victims are more than statistics, and they deserved better.
The memorial’s flags rest at the foot of the Washington Monument, and face the White House, to remind President Trump of his gross negligence. Members of the COVID Memorial Project explain that there hasn’t been a memorial service for these victims, so they took matters into their own hands.
The National Mall memorial service put COVID-19 into perspective and reminded Americans of the seriousness of the disease. While our country continues to reopen and relax regulations, families are suffering from Trump’s denial of the deadly disease.
What Is The COVID Memorial Project?
The COVID Memorial Project is an organization that recognizes the victims of COVID-19 in the U.S. They are concerned that Trump’s actions have caused America to become numb and disregard the pandemic. In an effort to bring awareness to this brutal disease, the project shares different memorials held by families for their loved ones.
On Sept. 21, the COVID Memorial Project organized volunteers to plant American flags around the National Mall. The humbling and mournful display aims to bring awareness to the coronavirus disease and spread the message that this battle is only getting worse. If our government refuses to take action soon, our numbers will continue to grow and more families will lose loved ones.
Additionally, the project highlights the senselessness of the losses that these families are enduring. Other countries have shown that this pandemic is manageable, and Trump has done nothing for the American people. In his attempt to hide the virus, he managed to kill 200,000 of America’s citizens.
When Nov. 3 rolls around, we need to vote Trump out of office. His incapability to grasp reality is putting America in danger, and more families will lose loved ones if he’s granted another four years.
Why Won’t Trump Host A Memorial Service For The 200,000 COVID-19 Victims?
The president couldn’t be bothered to host a memorial service for the 200,000 coronavirus victims. For someone who had prior knowledge of the disease, and seven months to prepare, it seems like he’s practicing malicious procrastination.
Thankfully, the COVID Memorial Project made it their mission to create a memorial for the 200,000 coronavirus victims.
The president’s delusion and rampant narcissism are probably why he refuses to hold a memorial service for the 200,000 victims of COVID-19. His Twitter fingers work endlessly promoting his self-appraisal, and he truly believes he’s been an amazing president.
Previously, Trump announced that his solution to the coronavirus pandemic was to stop testing Americans. It’s a pathetic attempt to save his presidency, and sadly, some of his supporters condone it.
Trump wants Americans to stop testing themselves for COVID-19 and forget that we’re struggling through a pandemic. In addition to this, he wants Americans to forget about the 200,000 coronavirus victims. His gross negligence continues to hurt hundreds of thousands of American families, but he only speaks of how well he’s handling the pandemic.
Moving Forward
Going forward, we need to remind ourselves that the pandemic is not a hoax and it’s a serious threat to our country. Our president’s actions are inexcusable, and his gross negligence resulted in 200,000 Americans dying.
When so many American lives are lost, it’s important for the president to organize and condone memorial services. The National Mall memorial service depicts the value for each American life, and our president should have been at the frontline of the event. Instead, he continues to disregard the seriousness of the pandemic and puts American lives in danger.
Our president should lead our country down a path of success and should take responsibility for current events. The only path that Trump has led the U.S. down is a road of deception, hatred and bigotry. It’s critical to American lives that he doesn’t get elected again in 2020.
Additionally, the COVID Memorial Project has created a GoFundMe page to donate towards the fight against the coronavirus pandemic. Due to the kindness of strangers, $1800 was raised for the National Mall memorial service. This shows that every donation counts towards our fight against the pandemic, and our efforts are far from over.
