No Way These Celebs Have Cannabis Brands!
Some celebs we’re not shocked to have weed products. Snoop Dogg, Tommy Chong, Willie Nelson—naturally. However, some celebs that own cannabis brands might stun you.
Famous Celebrities with Marijuana Brands
The legalization of marijuana is changing the rules and also the world. Everybody and their mother is investing in marijuana stocks or/and launching personal cannabis companies, especially famed pot-heads. Wiz Khalifa, Cheech Marin, Ricky Williams, Kevin Smith & Jason Mewes — are figures we’d expect to deal with THC merchandise. But, there are a few celebrities that caught us totally off guard with their proprietorship of a cannabis brand.
Montel Williams

Did this surprise you? Initially, it threw us for a doozy! Talk show host Montel Williams was known for hosting/airing shows equipped with upbeat and potent messages. Reuniting mothers who gave their kid up for adoption, tales of powerful women who faced particular danger (such as attempted murder or rape) and battled their way out, or finding lost loves, were reoccurring themes seen on Montel. Multiple sclerosis was a common topic also on the show, as Williams suffers from the disabling disease.
With such substantial subjects on the show and Montel’s clean-cut image, it was hard for us to imagine he was down with people puffing joints and getting their buzz on! Well, after a little research we found out Williams is one of the highest-profile marijuana advocates in the United States. An outspoken proponent for medical cannabis law revamp, he has fought to pass medical cannabis legislation in states such as Connecticut, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, and Pennsylvania.
Montel by Select – provider of high-quality CBD products
Montel by Select was birthed by Lenitiv Scientific as a line of progressive, high-quality hemp-derived CBD and cannabis products. Williams, a decorated former Naval Officer, has spearheaded the drive for military vets to legally access medical marijuana without the concern of forfeiting benefits as well. With all of that said – Montel Williams we salute you!
Joe Montana

That’s right, Joe Cool is slinging buds … he went from passing the ball to Jerry Rice, to passing the dutchie on the lefthand side! In 2019, NFL Hall of Famer and four-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback Joe Montana announced his cannabis brand with Caliva, a San Jose, CA cultivation and dispensary company, via his own company, Liquid 2 Ventures. Marijuana, Montana asserts, “can provide relief to many people and can make a serious impact on opioid use or addiction.”
“Joe knows that there are amazing benefits to cannabis,” said CEO Matt Gray about partnering with Montana. “He’s a proponent himself and really supports the movement. This was a great opportunity for him to tap into space and invest in a world-class team.” With Montana’s poster-boy image and squeaky clean reputation, we would have never taken him for a pot dealer! We look forward to trying out your products Joe.
John Legend

The vocalist has actually been calling for the end of marijuana prohibition as far back as 2013! “We need to legalize marijuana,” Legend contended. “There’s no good reason to continue prohibition. And we need to consider ending prohibition in general… The government’s never been good at prohibition. It’s never been effective. Ask people back in the 1920s if it worked with alcohol. It’s never worked with any drugs. We just spent a lot of money, locked a lot of people up, destroyed a lot of communities and we haven’t solved any problems… It’s really been a war on poor people, particularly a war on black people. It has not successfully reduced drug use at all.”
John Legend’s investment in PLUS Products
The “Love Me Now” singer has his hands in the weed jar too? You bet your bottom. In 2019, 10-time Grammy Award winner John Legend announced a partnership with PLUS Products on its line of CBD-hemp infused gummies. Legend stated: “I’ve been a believer in the benefits of CBD for some time. I was drawn to the PLUS team because they’re an innovative, family-run company and they use science to deliver a consistent, high-quality product. I appreciate that they’re committed to setting a high standard within an industry that has to date been fairly unregulated.”
Francis Ford Coppola

Now, we knew the film director/producer had a wine brand … but now he’s all the way up! This was a shocker to us because weed doesn’t play a role in The Godfather films. However, now that we think about it, in Apocalypse Now there is a pot scene on the boat. Hmm, guess the writing was on the wall the entire time!
In 2018, Coppola‘s holding company inked a deal with Humboldt Brothers to develop The Grower’s Series, a limited-edition cannabis brand providing three varying strains. “Wine and cannabis are two ancient and bounteous gifts of Mother Nature, linked by great care, terroir, and temperateness. Expertise making one applies to the other. As with growing grapes, location matters, and the Grower’s Series reflects California agricultural expertise creating a true blend of art and science,” said Coppola.
