Oregon Wildfires | Portland’s Sky: Smokey with a Shade of Apocalypse
Let me begin by saying I’m not a green peace environmentalist. I recycle Amazon’s reams of packaging and beer cans, but I also use paper plates from time to time. But with the recent Oregon and California wildfires, got me thinking — maybe humanity really did fuck this ball of clay up.
Yesterday I exchanged some texts with my life-long friend and essential brother, Billy Wood, Jr. He is based in Portland, Oregon and part of the team at Adorn body art (go get something pierced if you’re in the area!).
“The color is hard to describe. Like dirty rose gold, with a hint of impending doom”
For someone like me on the east coast, it’s tough to grasp the impact of the wildfires in Oregon and California. Shit, that’s some over there in forrest that Ranger Rick needs to take care of. But knowing the depths of the smoke billowing in to the communities like Billy’s puts it in perspective.
After all, I get moderately irritated when my neighbor burns leaves in his backyard and we have the windows open. Now imagine that irritation, but on adrenochrome.
Burning eyes. Difficulty breathing. Itchy skin. A burning tree branch here and there.
Let’s go through his pics shall we (Thanks my brother). Be safe out there Portlandians and Oregonians.
What a Beautiful Day!…Nope, It’s the Apocalypse
Good job humans. You are doing great

Cloudy? No, just burning trees in the sky

Since this is Oregon, Air Quality has to be at Least 30% Loud

It’s the End of the World, and We Know It
I’m just amazed R.E.M. was right.
Thanks again to Billy Wood, Jr. for the pics and videos. If you’re in the Portland area make sure to get out to Adorn for some authentic body art. Book in advance, and wear a mask!
