COLORS Studios is Youtube’s Finest R&B Platform of 2020
As someone who prides themselves on finding rising talent, COLORS is a perfect channel to indulge yourself in. In fact, COLORS, based in Berlin, puts on shows with artists from all over the world. Most of these creatives fall under the hip hop & R&B umbrella. Besides the beautiful music, each video has its own color scheme that compliments the artist’s outfit. This platform has over 4 million subscribers on Youtube and has become a staple for music lovers. Currently, COLORS Studios is Youtube’s finest R&B platform of 2020.
Sadly, live music is on hold for the foreseeable future. But COLORS is a special way to engage with new artists from home. Below, I’ve listed some videos you CAN NOT skip from 2020.
An Electro R&B Bop: “Paid in Full” by BOSCO
BOSCO is a force to be reckoned with. Born in Atlanta, but an LA transplant, she has had a single on every season of Insecure’s soundtrack. “Paid in Full” is smooth, funky, and incorporates hints of electro. The track reminds us to keep our money strong but to live life to the fullest. The video itself takes us into a light brown and red room as she sings with intention while wearing arm-length gloves.
An Emotional & Lyrically Driven Track: “I Know” by Santino Le Saint
Honestly, this video really surprised. Santino Le Saint, Brixton, London native, shows a soft side while discussing a damaging relationship. In particular, this video is different from others because he plays electric guitar live. The track is haunting and the purple/red combo is perfect to showcase his mixed emotions. This is Le Saint’s first COLORS video and released another soon after.
A Minimalist & Fun Bop: “My Way / Bad Shit” by Jarreau Vandal
Esteemed producer, writer, and vocalist, Jarreau Vandal, has finally taken to the COLORS stage. Previously, Vandal has collaborated with artists like Mahalia, Ashnikko, and Kojey Radical. In a cork board printed jacket and a gray background, he sings about breaking free from a troubling relationship. He sings over an Afrobeat-style beat. The Amsterdam based creative combines two short songs in one video smoothly.
A Mesmerizing and Soulful Bop: “In The Morning” by Ego Ella May
This video is such a VIBE. In a retro floral dress, Ego Ella May draws viewers in with her buttery vocals. Hailing from South London, she’s apart of the neo-soul revival that taps into contemporary jazz and electronic beats. She sings about a day in the life with intriguing metaphors about smoking, love, and religion.
A Captivating and Tranquil Track: “Own Your Own” by Yazmin Lacey
This stripped down and acoustic song is perfect for a cloudy day. Yazmin Lacey, soul singer-songwriter bases in Nottingham, London gives us a light and engaging performance. Additionally, the performance steps away from the typically beat heavy COLORS studio videos. She reminds of a low-key Alicia Keys who kills it with her wholesome voice and lyrics.
COLORS is an important platform for rising artists
COLORS Studios is Youtube’s finest R&B platform of 2020. It allows for artists with all different types of followings and origins to perform on an international level with little distractions. Hence, the simplicity of the backgrounds tied together with thoughtful outfits let the music shine.
