Bongs, Blunts, Papers, Vapes and Edibles: How Can You Protect Your Health And Enjoy Cannabis?
Cannabis consumption comes in many forms, and many wonder what they can do to protect their health. You can smoke it out of a bong, roll it into a blunt, craft a joint, vape or bake it into decadent edibles. Nonetheless, whichever method you choose, you’re going to get baked- obliterated, even.
The problem is, there’s a lot of information that says cannabis can prevent cancers from developing, which is fantastic. However, there’s also a lot of information that points to cannabis causing lung and throat cancer.
So, what should you believe? Should we take the advice that appeases us? For a long time, that’s exactly what I did. I figured, there’s research pointing to cannabis displaying anti-cancer properties, so I’ll just go with that.
Nonetheless, I decided to do a bit of research into the subject and figure out which method will protect my health the most.
The Bong: Is It Good For Your Health?

Before you became a jack of all trades at cannabis consumption, your go-to smoking apparatus was probably a bong. Your graduation from a makeshift coke can, to a glass bowl, to a bong was memorable, and you’re probably still a fan of this cannabis consumption method.
So, is it better for your health to smoke out of a bong compared to a glass bowl, or god forbid, another coke can?
When you choose to smoke from a bong, you’re able to avoid some of the nasty tar that comes from inhaling cannabis. Bong water acts as a filtration system, allowing you to avoid small tar particles and other combusted materials. So, as long as you clean your bong and bong water regularly, you’ll benefit from this piece’s filtration system.
Sadly, regular glass bowls lack a filtration system. However, anything is better for you than smoking from a coke can. When you inhale aluminum particles, this can cause respiratory problems that can later affect the nervous system.
But bongs aren’t perfect, either. They’re not portable, which can cause you to turn to other methods of smoking cannabis. However, they’ll save you a shit ton of weed. The hit from a bong is cleaner and more pressurized, so you’ll get closer to achieving that ‘just punched in the face by some Mary Jane’ feeling.
So, the next time you’re out shopping for new pieces, you should consider purchasing a bong to improve your health.
Blunts vs. Joints: Which Is Better For Your Health?

Your go-to choice for cannabis consumption are blunts and joints if you enjoy a long, slow smoke sesh. Rolling up can be calming and therapeutic, and you can personalize your creations with flavored wraps- or even wraps that look like dollar bills.
So, which method is healthier for your body: blunts or joints?
Well, when you smoke a blunt, you’re also smoking the tobacco wrap which is harmful to your health. Due to its diverse carcinogenic properties, igniting and inhaling tobacco can cause cancer in the throat, mouth and lungs. Additionally, tobacco blunt wraps contain nicotine which is an addictive substance.
On the other hand, joint papers don’t contain tobacco or nicotine, so they’re automatically healthier than a blunt. However, the smoke inhaled from a joint can be extremely harsh as well, and there’s still no filtration system compared to a bong.
Also, if you choose to roll a joint, try to get some organic wraps to avoid any nasty chemicals that manufacturers use in their papers. Though, if you’re still hung up on the slow burn of a blunt, maybe try to pursue an organic hemp wrap instead. They may not burn as slowly, but they don’t contain tobacco or nicotine.
Vaporizers

This recently popular method for consuming cannabis has taken the industry by storm. They’re portable, discreet and taste pretty good. However, are vaporizers better for your health compared to smoking cannabis flower?
In a way, yes. Scientists report that cannabis vaporizer users experience less respiratory issues and symptoms compared to those who smoke cannabis flower. Vaporizers heat the cannabis liquid at a low temperature, so you only consume the released cannabinoids- or the good stuff.
So, when you avoid consuming carcinogens through cannabis combustion, you’re also at a lower risk of developing respiratory issues and certain cancers. So technically, vaping cannabis is healthier for you than smoking it.
Edibles

Solely due to the fact that you don’t need to smoke an edible, they are automatically healthier for your body in regards to the lungs, throat and mouth.
So, are edibles the king of cannabis consumption? Maybe- the THC is absorbed by your body through digestion instead of through combustion. So, you’re automatically avoiding the carcinogens produced from smoking pot.
Additionally, digesting cannabis has been used to treat certain ailments for centuries, including anxiety, chronic pain and cancer-related symptoms.
However, you must be wary of the new-age edibles. Modern cannabis-infused decadents are usually packed full of sugar, butter and other unhealthy ingredients, so don’t throw caution to the wind. But it’s not like you can over-indulge in edibles on a daily basis- those fuckers are not a force to be reckoned with.
The Verdict
So, if you want to protect your respiratory system, you may want to consider adding cannabis edibles to your diet. They lack the carcinogenic properties that come from burning and smoking cannabis, and one edible should have you set for the majority of your day. That’s a lot of bong, blunt and joint rips being taken out of the picture.
And if you really like the feeling of smoking cannabis, you should consider vaping it instead. That way, you can avoid consuming harmful carcinogens and only inhale the good stuff- the cannabinoids.
